Renewal for Growth

Renewal for Growth

Buoyant, clear, confident, hopeful, at peace and absolutely certain all is well, this is a conducive state of being to growing businesses and dreams.  Ironically, in this space there is no need to grow anything because the present is so rich, priorities are so clear,  the growth just seems to happen on it’s own.  At the same time, after having recently experienced such an expansive state after a weekend retreat in nature with the nurturing support of a circle of women, it also provided inner fuel to intentionally take enthusiastic, clear action forward.  And, it reminded me of the absolute importance of building this into our lives. To provide a specific example, as a business owner, I dedicate Monday’s to easing into my week and prioritizing catch up, follow up and setting up client, networking and referral partner appointments for the coming week or two.  On a Monday after a busy weekend, although I still ease into my day with exercise, prayer, meditation and readying myself for business productivity, at times I still struggle with an inner voice that questions how I can take “so much time” in the morning on a “work day”.  So, although I do settle into the quiet at the start of my day, I have observed that by the time I’m ready to launch my official “work day”, Sometimes I still have to redirect my thoughts. Two Monday’s ago after a prior weekend of rest and renewal I was so joyful and clear. Not a question arose in my mind about how I start my Mondays.  I simply settled more deeply into a place...
Every Day is Holy

Every Day is Holy

Being on Day 19 of a 19 day fast between sunrise and sunset is one way to discover holy.  There are so many.  Whether intentional holy moments of peacefulness, prayer or contemplation, a knowable expression of love to oneself or another, or the countless every day moments, trials and difficulties that could easily escape notice, I’m starting to think that every breath of life, lesson and love is holy. I agree that some moments, days, weeks and some times longer periods of time do not feel holy at all, and for whatever reason I’ve had my fair share of these times.  This repetition has however helped develop a spiritual muscle for me to know that by finding a way to redirect my attention from whatever difficulty I’m facing, that it seems holiness prevails.  Sometimes this is known at the time, at times discovered sometime thereafter. Before arriving to this 19th day of the fast, an actual Holy Day in the Baha’I Faith called Naw Ruz, meaning “new day” and also considered the New Year, I’d like to rewind to a few recent memorable moments. 1) For the past several months I have been taking two now 25-year old twin girls Aliyah and Shahar swimming at the Courage Center.  I have been a part-time caregiver for them for the past 5 years. We have never once had a conversation, in words that is, as they are unable to verbally communicate.   They are also 100 % dependent on others for their care.  (Another much longer story for another time.) The holy moments have been many and life changing. The moment that...
What is Your Set Point?

What is Your Set Point?

9 9 9 9, were the numbers that popped into my attention this morning when I checked in with myself after my morning run.  9 9 9 9, what does that mean and what does this have to do with you or your business?  And what do I mean by Set Point? In answer to these questions, first of all, for me the numbers refer to an intuitive rating of my Mind, Body, Spirit and Emotions/Heart in any given moment.  It is a habit I formed a couple years ago, as I deepened my awareness that my thoughts, my feelings and my body all have their own language and that they are interconnected.  So what? Well, I also noticed that if my thoughts are lower, my emotions tend to be lower, my body feels less good in different ways and my spirit is pulled down.  Au contraire, I noticed that when one of my numbers goes up, it tends to lift the others.  This informal research led me to the idea that if I could do something that would lift one of the numbers, it would likely lift the others, which would probably improve the quality of my day, my life and my business, which I’ve discovered is true. Somehow, intellectually knowing that the numbers are connected, when I check in, it leads me to know that if I’m not feeling good, by noticing what I am thinking, which is  typically correspondingly also less good, I can make a conscious choice to allow myself to continue to feel bad and think the thoughts that are there or think something...
Life Imitates Birth

Life Imitates Birth

What if the answer to some of our world’s unrest and our individual challenges in life are held in a growing body of knowledge and research on prenatal & birth psychology that “our lives imitate our births”.  Doesn’t it make sense that when a soul comes into this world, it’s first memories and patterns (either beneficial or detrimental) would be impacted by it’s first experiences of coming into this physical world? Depending upon the actual point when the soul comes in, couldn’t that mean it’s first memories that create unconscious patterns later in life could feasibly include conception, time in the womb and the point of birth? So what was happening during these very early stages of life, was it peaceful, loving, welcoming and accepting with the innate wisdom of the mother and child working together to be born anew together as “mother and child” with all of the innately wired birth hormones; mother and child both expressing their own power and innate responses to make their way through their “parallel” birth canal?   & what about fathers, where and how were they involved?  Or was it accompanied by trauma during it’s entry, stress at the point of conception, during it’s time in the womb, & numbed, drugged, absorbing fear and pain, or birthed in such a way as not to develop certain necessary brain and body patterns, because these faculties were not engaged during the birthing process? What are these unconscious patterns and how do they impact your life? And, once we discover what they are for us, what if there is a way to re-pattern ourselves and...

Seasonal Change

September is upon us and the shifting of daylight, temperature and rhythm are palpable.  Having lived well and fully this summer, I wrote a little less on my blog and spent a little more time outdoors and with my camera, so for today I share another visual celebration of beauty as the season shifts from summer to fall.    ENJOY!             Share...
