Fire to Gold

Fire to Gold: An Alchemy of Women’s Stories

Fire to Gold: An Alchemy of Women’s Stories is a traveling photo exhibition that displays portraits and written stories of every-day Twin Cities women from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have transformed adversity into personal power, wisdom, service and impact in the world. Conversation guides and learning modules based on the story themes will accompany the exhibit. Broad themes being explored include (1) overcoming individual or collective trauma or loss, (2) healing from sexual violence or domestic abuse (3) stepping into personal power.

The photo exhibit is Phase 1 of a documentary film project that will interweave facts, interviews with key leaders of organizations serving women and stories of local women. The film aims to further explore the experience of being a woman in today’s world, how it differs across cultures, how far women have come, and where progress is still needed. Both the exhibit and film will offer inspiration and role models for the path forward. An overall goal is to use this collective moment of adversity and trauma to build resilience and move toward individual and collective healing.
